The house brought me to Japan the moment I drove up the hill and saw the house. Louise is so attentive and greatly at cooking and baking! Their hot tub and indoor lap pool are must-try's. Love this place and look forward to coming back again.

I organized my friend's honeymoon here in the Take No Ma Room, and upon hearing that it was for a newlywed couple, Louise pulled out all the stops to accommodate them! Embroidered towels, kimonos to wear during their stay, DIY pottery... and yummy sushi. My friend, who regularly visits Japan, said that it was an authentic Japanese guest house experience. A+!!
I purchased a three-day weekend stay as a gift for the wedding anniversary of my daughter and son-in-law. They had a great time and loved the experience. The food was fabulous and the surroundings beautiful. The owners were kind enough to send pictures of their stay, as a keepsake for me. Wonderful............!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay. The building and grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed walking to the gazebo for picnics with a gorgeous view each day. Our hosts Louise and Sadao were charming and offered incredible service throughout the weekend. The traditional Japanese breakfast is not to be missed and Louise's homemade cookies fresh from the oven are to die for. We spent a relaxing afternoon in the pool, sauna, and hot tub. We would highly recommend Shirakaba and look forward to our next stay.
My girlfriend and I had a lovely time here for our first time in the Berkshires. Louise spent time getting to know us through email before we arrived. Louise was very attentive and catered to our every need during our stay. The hospitality was amazing. We were welcomed to a beautiful, clean, Japanese style oasis. We spent our night enjoying the hot tub and sauna while admiring the brightly colored mountains. The breakfast was personalized and perfected to our every need/desire. This was the perfect romantic getaway on our way to Salem!
